A3 had an opportunity to sit down with DJ Frisk and ask him a few questions.

When did you start DJ’ing and what made you decide to want to be a DJ?

I’ve been collecting music and sharing it for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I would bring my stack of CD’s to every party I went to and sit by the stereo for most of the night. In 2004, I made the decision to take DJ-ing seriously and sold my drum set for a pair of turntables and mixer… the rest is history.

Are there any DJ’s out there that you are feeling?

There are so many talented DJ’s out there, it’s hard to keep track of them all… but here are a few that stand out for me:

Diplo: Everything he touches is magic. I’m really looking forward to the new Major Lazer album. DJ Spinbad and Jazzy Jeff have always been huge influences of mine since the very start. I don’t think there are any DJ’s out there that can match their technical skill, party rocking ability, and musical knowledge/diversity. Take a listen to some of their mixes or live performances and you’ll see what I mean.

If I had to pick one DJ to mould myself after, it would have to be A-trak. Arguably the most successful battle DJ to cross over to the dance/electronic scene.

So you’ve been doing it for awhile, Have you put out any albums or are you working on something?

I’ve put out lots of mixtapes and remixes to date, but no albums yet. Currently I’m hard at work with my new production/remix crew ‘The Lost Boys’, we’ve put out a bunch of remixes to date, and have some original tracks lined up. An EP or Album might be around the corner.

When will we be able to get our hands on this album?

I’ll be moving to Toronto in September… which will be a big change for me, but I’m really looking forward to new opportunities in Canada’s music capital.
